Beware Fake HUD Site

Beware that fake websites are popping up with the intent of gathering your contact information.  An example of such a web site is bailout.hud-gov.us/ .  Please note that this is not a HUD site, even though it has official looking photos and an official 'government looking' seal.

Paging through this site even shows that they include a consumer alert tab that warns of fraudulent websites.  There is absolutely no connection to HUD.  Their disclosure page reveals that they are, "....a for profit business....."  Consumers beware.

If you are looking for assistance with Central Ohio Real Estate including HUD properties, please give me a call at 614-273-6406 or email me at Vanessa.simmons@realliving.com

Just search for any keyword phrase including "HUD" or "FHA" and the SERP will be full of misleading web sites.

The public is not aware.

Vanessa - thanks!  that is very valuable information to get out there.  There is always someone trying to make a profit off of someone else's hardships!

Scams are everywhere.  It's good to spread the word about who these people are.  Thanks for taking the time to post.

Vanessa, the site does look kind of official except for the name. Hopefully, consumers know that HUD is the Department of Housing and Urban Development and not the House and Urban Department. Thanks for the heads up.

There always seems to be some one trying to scam people from the fear or greed. Thanks for the tip.

Hi Vanessa - Thank you for the "heads up" on this site.  I get so much spam email and generally delete them all; however, these sites are prey to unsuspecting people.  I will surely point this out to my clients.

It is amazing how these sites pop up to prey on those that already need help. It is despicable.
